Solo Driving

Yesterday marked another in a long series of small things that I’ve come to appreciate.

For the first time since the wreck I made it to the car alone and drove—alone.  The destination was only about twenty-five miles away.  I attended a writers’ group meeting and then ran an errand.  Whoopee! Well, yes.

I’m now using a cane exclusively.  The wheelchair was parked more than a week ago.  Now, the walker has been put aside.  When I used them, someone else had to put them in the car and take them out for me.

I can walk to the car with the cane and simply put it in the empty seat.  I can solo, now.

Thank God.

  1. This is wonderful news, Thomas! Freedom to move, to drive, to be independant, is truly understood by those who have lost it and work so hard to gain it again! Good for you!!

  2. Progress is victory.

  3. Woo hoo! This is a wonderful step forward, Tom. No pun intended. ;o)

  4. Congratulations, Thomas! These are great times to reflect upon the blessings of personal independence. Kudos my friend. 🙂
